How to Play Jester Dice

Jester Dice is two dice games built around rolling dice and one wild suit die. Play solo or race friends to the highest score. (Multi-player subscription *IN THE WORKS.)

The Dice

Poker Hands uses five rank dice. Full Deck uses two standard pip dice. All games add one special suit die. You get up to three rolls per turn. Tap any die to hold it between rolls — in both games the suit die can be held like any other die. But in Poker Hands, holding the suit die breaks any flush that turn: a flush must be rolled, not kept.

Flushes (Poker Hands)

You have a flush when the suit die shows the same suit on all three rolls of the turn. A Joker, a Red X, or a held suit die in any roll breaks the flush. Holding rank dice is fine; only the suit rolls count. Flushes are rare, so they pay big: Flush 100, Straight Flush 150, Royal Flush 250. A flush cannot be combined with any other roll for points outside of the three specified flushes.

Joker (suit wildcard)

In Full Deck the Joker counts as any suit and marks the scored cell as wild (except Kings, where the Joker is required and is not counted as wild). In Poker Hands it does not help a flush — it breaks the run.

Red X (lose a turn)

If the suit die lands on the Red X, your turn ends immediately. You must scratch an open category or cell for zero points.

Poker Hands Scoring

Score each finished turn in one open category. If your dice do not fit anything, take a zero in any open category. Every game uses the full card: the upper section (9s, 10s, Jacks, Queens, Kings, and Aces) with the +100 bonus at 207+, the lower poker hands, and the suit hands.

Upper section: score the sum of all dice showing that rank.

Flush needs no rank pattern — just the same suit on all three rolls. Straight Flush and Royal Flush also require that flush plus their rank pattern.

Five of a Kind bonuses

Your first Five of a Kind fills that box for 100. Every Five of a Kind after that (as long as the box holds 100, not a zero) pays a bonus: 150 for the first, 200 for the second, and 250 for the third and each one after. You also score that hand in any open box, with wild credit — the matching rank scores normally in the upper section, and lower boxes such as Full House or either straight pay full value. Straight Flush and Royal Flush still need a true flush.

Full Deck Scoring

Roll two standard dice (1–6) plus the suit die to build cards, in both modes. Ace through 6 can be made from one matching die; 7–10 and face cards need two dice to sum to the target value. King needs two sixes plus the Joker.

In Full Deck you fill all four suit columns (52 turns). The no-wild bonus is earned only when every cell is filled without using a Joker as a wild suit on Ace through Queen — Kings always need the Joker, so scoring a King never counts as a wild. The no-scratch bonus only when no cell was scratched. Earn both for the combined maximum: +1000.

Physical Dice Conversion

No custom dice? Roll six ordinary d6 and convert for Poker Hands:

1 → 9
2 → 10
3 → J
4 → Q
5 → K
6 → A

No 7 or 8 conversion is needed — the rank dice only have faces 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A. For the suit die, use a deck of cards or assign 1–4 to the four suits in order Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, Spades, 5 to Joker, and 6 to Red X.
